Tonight I made a sandwich that was so big that I laughed.

It's true...when I was finished putting together this giant sandwich I actually stepped back and chuckled. I wanted to make a sourdough ham sandwich and cook it in the oven to get crispy tonight for dinner for something easy. This large round loaf was on the 'on clearance because it's going bad tomorrow-' (that's what I think of it as anyways) rack at Wal-mart and it looked delicious. So instead of making two or three sandwiches for my husband and I, I made one GIANT oven sandwich.

Here is my hand, so you can get an idea of the size, lol

If you want to make a monster sandwich, or some smaller versions that are just as delicious-here's what I used on mine:

sourdough bread
ham
pepperoni slices
chopped black olives
mustard
onion slices
tomato slices
shredded mozzarella
shredded cheddar
shredded lettuce.

The trick to making these delicious is to put some mustard on both top and bottom slices of bread, then cover mustard on top with mozzarella cheese, and then the bottom with the chopped olives and then cheddar. It makes the bread crisp and cheesy. Other than that-no special directions. Just put the rest of your toppings on and bake at 400 for around 10 minutes. Yum!!

After I pulled the sandwich out of the oven and called the boys to dinner, this is the dialogue that follows:

Gabriel: "Whoa, rea rea BIG sanwish."
Eric: "That IS a big sandwich."
Gabriel: "BIG BIG sanwish."
Me: "Eric, how do you think I should cut it?"
Gabriel: "BIG BIG sanwish."
Eric: "I have no idea."
Gabriel: "BIG BIG sanwish."
Me: "Oh...well...what I meant was...how are you going to cut it?"
Gabriel: "REA BIG SANWISH!"

And here is my brave husband Eric cutting the sandwich. Bless his heart.

Looks much less daunting cut into fourths. So delicious!!

Yes, he did try a bite, because believe it or not, he loves black olives.
