I can almost see it from here...

Urban Outfitters!!!!
Yes, that's right...Asheville is so close and that means Urban Outfitters is close-by too. So I started thinking about it, and realized that I hadn't checked out there online site in a while. Now, you have to understand-a large reason why I started this blog has to do with my addiction to online window shopping-I find so many inspiring things during my purposeless online excursions, and I previously had no way to share them.
So here's some of what I found at Urban Outfitters-their new Full Spectrum collection was shot by Martin Parr, and it's great. I also found some unbelievable pieces well above Urban Outfitter's normal price range in their Boutique collection-which as the name suggests, features staple pieces by unique designers such as Sessun, Wood Wood, Rodebjer and more.

Toddler Tuesday!

I might make another Toddler Tuesday post, but here's one about a great outdoor (or indoor if you're brave) treat for your little guy or girl.
Now, I have seen a few kids' yogurt brands include sticks in their packs of yogurt so that you can make popsicles out of them, but you don't necessarily have to go that route. Gabriel loves the Trix yogurt brand, and since we hardly ever buy junk food in our house, I let him splurge a little on the tasty kids' yogurt instead of buying the low-sugar tasteless stuff. To make his Trix yogurt into a popsicle, (and you can do this with any yogurt) simply stick a plastic fork pointy end down right into the top of an unopened yogurt and place in the freezer. Freeze for at least four hours. To get your popsicle out, run the unopened yogurt under hot tap water and turn slowly. Then peel the aluminum top off and let your child (or you) enjoy!

Memorial Day fashion: Red, white, and Tommy

When I think of what designer captures the very essence of American fashion design, I almost always start thinking about Tommy Hilfiger. His muse is the purely beautiful and subtly sexy all-American girl-next-door. It's not necessarily about California-blond hair and blue eyes (although a little some of that too!) it's more about a non-fussy and classically elegant way of dressing with just a perfect pair of jeans and striped blouse and being the chicest person in the room. Tommy Hilfiger's current selection online and in stores is in my eyes his best yet-with unexpected pops of bright neons, elegantly sparkly embellishments, and his ever-flattering and beautiful silhouettes, I share with you some of my favorite pieces below. The website is even giving you 25% off plus free shipipng today if you spend $200. Check for the discount code on the main page on their website. To check it out, click here.

And of course, thank you for the men and women who have served and sacrificed for this country. Happy Memorial Day!

Outfit of the Day featuring my sister Megan

Today's outfit of the day is not actually one of mine, but my sister Megan's. The outfit she wore yesterday for our little Memorial Day get together was perfect for a springtime barbecue outside. Unfortunately, between making hot fudge syrup for the ice cream, and stuffed tomatoes, I was in a hurry and didn't get the greatest pictures of it-so it's kinda hard to see but she is wearing a pale pink applique tank with blue and white striped Bermuda shorts with white flat loafers.

I like her choice to forgo a necklace and instead wear both bracelets and earrings to accessorize her outfit. Her earrings and once bracelet were white to match her outfit, but then she added a pop of bright pink bracelets that go with the palette and style of her outfit but aren't matchy-matchy.

Her nails looks great too, so I got a pic of them as well. At first glance they look light pink, but it's almost like a really really pale coral, which was really pretty. (Nail polish from Avon)
Best Buddies. Don't know what the Gabriel face is about...

Pale Pink and Orange Manicure

Here's what my nails are up to:

I used Covergirl 3-in-1 nail polish in Premier Pink and Wet'N'Wild Wild Shine in Sunny Side Up. I love this particular polish that Covergirl makes, it's hard to find though, I ordered this one from Target. I have tried 4 or 5 different brands in search of a pale pink that looks good after 2 coats instead of 4 and this one was better even than Sally Hansen.
I also got a chance to finally see someone wearing Sally Hansen Shatter in person-my sister Megan. It looks really cool. Hers was the black Shatter over a dark hot pink, and I was surprised by how neat and professional it looks-instead of globby and kinda weird. I haven't tried it myself yet, but I definitely want to now!

Hope everyone's having a great Memorial Day weekend!!! My dad is making homemade ice cream later and I'm pretty excited-I am even trying to finagle the recipe out of him so I can share it on here. The man's very proud of his culinary skills though (which are impressive), so we'll have to see.

xoxo,

L

Pic of the day: Rush to judgement

I've never seen the allure of the tiny dog trend. It seems like they tend to be yappy and weird-looking. The little dog that freaked me out the most is the chihuahua. I will be honest-if you were the kind of person that had a chihuahua, called it your 'baby', and carried it around with you, I probably would have rolled my eyes. But, my sister brought her mother-in-law's dog over to my Dad's house the other day as a treat to Gabriel, and I was around a chihuahua all night, up close and personal for the first time. And I have to say...I was wrong. I got sucked into the wonder of such a small and loving little lap-lover. It was cute, it was sweet, and I wanted to have a turn holding her too. So, if any of you out there are the Chihuahua, Shih-tzu, Maltese toting type, I judged you and I am sorry. I get it now. Maybe one day I will be a tea-cup toter too.

Here's some pictures of my G baby loving on "Noel". (She was a Christmas gift)

Outfit of the Day: White and Gold

I love wearing all white with lots of gold accessories. Here's what I wore to go have a couple drinks with my husband and Ma in Asheville early yesterday evening. (Sorry for the poor picture quality, I'm at my dad's so I don't have my usual set-up)

Yes, I am wearing gold earrings, necklace, watch, and headband. Normally I would consider that wayyyy too much accessorizing. But against a plain white background, it just feels good, lol!! Plus, I had to wear a headband-I had post-ponytail hair!
