I see your t shirt and I raise you one button-down

I feel like fashion bloggers typically blog about their outfits for one of two reasons-either they live some fabulous life in a big city with an awesome job that requires them to look their best every day so therefore they want to document the greatness, or they blog because they maybe don't have a lot of 'fashion' in their everyday lives and need some sort of creative outlet (me).
I don't get out much. Not only am I a stay-at-home mom to two children, I also live in the country. So there isn't a lot of call for me to get dressed up very often. So for me, simply running errands is an excuse to dig into my closet and put an outfit together.
The only problem is that you do have to find that balance of not looking like you are trying too hard. My biggest issue of this is when I am just running to the store or something with my husband (sorry babe). I have to base what I am going to wear on what he has on, because if he is wearing a t-shirt and jeans and I have on a dress and heels, I am just going to look crazy.
He goes to the closet...will he select a polo? A button-down? Ah, no...it's apparently a t-shirt day. (We were  just headed to an outdoor outfitters store.) In his defense, he has to dress in a shirt and tie every day so I can't blame him for wanting to dress down on the weekends, and he's actually not into shorts so the most casual he gets is a nice pair of jeans and a solid colored tee...but still that means I have to go pretty casual.
I try to get away with as much of a fashionable spin as I can, so below is my answer to his jeans and tee. A casual outfit with shorts and a plain top, with some gold jewelry and flat sandals.

Also, I am rocking some second (or maybe third) day hair and had to pull it back...I am more reluctant to dress more plainly when my hair is not looking the best......it's like, I have to make up for my hair with my outfit. Make sense? Anyone else the same way? lol.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Lovely Deja Vu

Once upon a time, I was shopping in downtown Asheville, NC with my Ma and my sister. We'd been at it for a couple of hours, and I rushed into one last little boutique where I came face-to-face with a gorgeous strapless crochet dress, complete with a large ruffled neckline. I was in love, but my Ma was ready to go. Sadly, I left without a chance to try it on.
But I thought about this dress. Often. It was just so gorgeous and unlike anything I had seen. Who was the designer? Can I find it online? After spending more time than I would like to admit scouring Google shopping search for 'crochet ruffle strapless striped', I found it! And that is how I first came to hear of the fabulousness that is Judith March, the company that made the dress.
Turns out ALL of their clothes are gorgeous, unique, and have that boho-chic vibe that I adore. I search for a store nearby that carries the brand......but need I remind you that I live on a farm in the middle of cotton country, the nearest mall (outlet mall, of course) being an hour away?
Bring in DejaVu-an online boutique owned by the same uber-talented woman that founded Judith March. They carry a huge selection of Judith March pieces, plus many other gems. Seriously, every time I pin something from this place, I get about a zillion re-pin email notifications. You HAVE to check it out.
I am so excited to share with you my first Judith March piece from DejaVu-I had so much fun with this dress and can't wait to wear it again with some thick tights (and perhaps a fur vest) once it turns cooler.

The print on this dress is-WOW. But what I also love is that you can tell that some serious thought went into it's design-it's the perfect length, sexy but not so short that you have to worry about any wardrobe malfunctions. It's also body skimming instead of body-con, which is ideal for accentuating your figure without calling attention to the fact that you may or may not have had a baby four months ago (*cough it's hard to stop eating chocolatecookiespastabaconetc. cough*) It's really the perfect combination of being flattering but comfortable at the same time, and I personally have a hard time finding that balance.
You can check out this dress online at DejaVu by clicking here.

Here are some of my other favorites:

This next one is SOOO adorbs (and if pink's not your thing, it comes in two other colors):

They have a TON of really unique printed shorts, here's one of my favorites:

And some really beautiful jewelry...

I'm really excited to be part of the "Oxblood" Bloggers Do It Better Challenge over at Pretty Shiny Sparkly.
You can check it out below!

The color 'oxblood' is HUGE this fall, but unfortunately my budget doesn't allow me to go out and buy a bunch of new pieces. Luckily, I had this vintage leather Entienne Aigner jacket already! It was fun to get it out and work with it.

Boho Vibes

I like to switch it up a lot with my look, but my favorite way to dress is with a kind of dressed-up bohemian vibe. Flowy tops and dresses with big earrings-I'm sold! If you share the same love of everything bohemian, you should head over to Macy's and check out Nicole Richie's new impulse line they have there right now. It's amazing, and relatively affordable. I would buy up pretty much every piece if  I could. Also, a head's up-I heard the pieces are running LARGE, so size down.

Speaking of boho-chic, I am so excited about a post I am doing next week about a Judith March dress I received from this AMAZING boutique! You are going to love it! Start saving your money because you are going to want to do some serious online shopping at this place...seriously, anything I pin from them gets like a  zillion repins.
